Joseph A. McCullough: Joe is a multi-award winning author and game designer, best known for creating the ‘Frostgrave’ family of tabletop wargames, including the original Frostgrave, Ghost Archipelago, Rangers of Shadow Deep, Stargrave, and recently, Warriors of Athena. He is also the creator of the gothic Napoleonic game, The Silver Bayonet, the mass-battle fantasy game, Oathmark, and the extremely silly, Hairfoot Jousting. With over 40 wargaming books to his credit, and several more on the way, he remains one of the best-known, and most prolific indy designers working in the field.

Joe McCullough will be hosting the following events at the convention:

• Writing a Wargame: Idea to Publication

  Join Frostgrave creator Joseph A. McCullough as he offers an introduction to the process of creating a wargame. From finding that initial spark of inspiration, through the writing, playtesting, and editing, onto the different means of publication, Joseph examines each step, giving insights from his time spent working for Osprey Games and his own career as a freelance game designer. Ideal for those that have written a wargame and are interested in the next step, or those who just have a vague idea but are unsure where to take it.

• Writing the Perfect Wargame Scenario

  Over the last decade, Joseph A. McCullough has written hundreds of scenarios for his games: Frostgrave, Stargrave, Rangers of Shadow Deep, The Silver Bayonet, Oathmark, and others. In that time, he has built an extensive toolbox of techniques, tricks, and methods for designing adventures. Join him as he shares his insight and experience on constructing exciting scenarios for the tabletop, looking at scenarios from both a narrative and a mechanical aspect.

• Hairfoot Jousting: Polo!
  Day/Time: Friday and Saturday Afternoon: Time TBD
  Duration: 2 hours

  Come play with Joseph A. McCullough, the creator of Hairfoot Jousting, in this chaotic, four-way game of Polo. Saddle up your pigs and turkeys, grab your mallet, and join in the wild melee, as eight hairfoots try desperately to keep their mounts under control while hitting a ball through a goal! Or give up on that whole goal-scoring idea, and just see if you can unseat the competition!

• Free Frostgrave Scenario. Joe McCullough will be providing a unique scenario for one of the Frostgrave games at the convention, which will also be available  in the program for attendees to use for their own games!
